A 2 Oaks Retreat is the perfect blend of guided holistic practices, indulgent therapies and time away from the general busyness of modern life. We bring together the restful qualities of Flow and Yin Yoga, the healing qualities of massage therapy/acupuncture and the quiet of meditation/relaxation with nourishing vegetarian food and plenty of time to unwind.
With a little yoga and meditation, you’ll experience the ancient wisdom and power of breath work and guided relaxation to encourage healing from minor ailments and dis-eases. Enjoy the space for intention setting and reflection, exploring the countryside and rural charm to slowly nurture your body and mind into optimum wellness.
Suitable for all abilities from complete beginners to well seasoned yogis, the focus is on nurturing and caring for your whole being – body, mind and spirit – while equipping you with useful practices to use in the future. The 2 Oaks Team
Claire Hilton, founder of 2 Oaks Yoga and 2 Oaks Retreats, is the curator of these wonderful events and works with a host of practicioners to offer a holistic experience.
Claire found yoga at the age of 17, when she very much needed its therapeutic qualities to heal a variety of dis-eases and ailments. Yoga has had a profound impact on her physical and emotional health over the last 20 years. Inspired by the healing properties of a powerful yoga, pranayama and meditation practice, she has since navigated life in the holistic vein that yoga offers, sharing her enthusiasm for the multi-faceted yoga she loves with others. As an asana teacher, she leads flowing vinyasa style classes as well as yin sessions in which she delivers yoga nidras for a deeply relaxing experience.
Her first yoga retreat, back in 2008, gave her a feeling of peace she had never in her memory experienced before. This zen feeling stayed with her for weeks afterwards. Since then she has known that her calling is to share this feeling with others. She spent the next 10 years studying to be able to offer her own, special, holistically focused retreats.
Tess has been a central figure in 2 Oaks Retreats’ success. She has over 15 years experience in the corporate sector, coaching business professionals and has seen first hand how many successful professionals become neglectful of their own wellbeing and lack the confidence or awareness to treat themselves with the love they deserve. Feeling called to help individuals as well as business leaders, Tess has co-hosted and run events and workshops alongside Claire.
Tess is all about connection. She puts people in touch with their dreams, their barriers and gets them in touch with how they can be kinder to themselves, sometimes, through healthy and nourishing food.
Laurie first discovered yoga 20 years ago initially starting to practise at home to videos for purely physical reasons. As the years went on Laurie felt the mental, physical and spiritual benefits of yoga and the yogic lifestyle has become a massive part of her life.
Laurie teaches in and around Exeter and in her practice, she weaves the principles of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Person Centred Counselling, Mindfulness and Yogic Philosophy to create a holistic session which will support clients to bring about change into their lives. Barry has been teaching yoga for over 25 years and is famous among the Devon School of Yoga practitioners for his incredible yoga philosophy knowledge and his spine tingling performances in leading yoga mantra – or Kirtan – sessions. He has long known the benefits of a Bhakti (devotional) yoga practice and we are thrilled to have him as part of the team on some of our retreats.
